The actor and theologian Răzvan Ionescu died. The Bulandra Theater and Senator Ionuț Vulpescu send their condolences: “He was a rare artist”

Actor and theologian Răzvan Ionescu passed away. The representatives of the Bulandra Theater thanked him for his artistic contribution and offered condolences to the bereaved family.

A graduate of the Institute of Theatrical and Cinematographic Art “IL Caragiale”, class of 1979, class of professor Octavian Cotescu, Răzvan Ionescu was part of a generation of artists who lived the theater as a true vocation, assumed with rigor and dedication, writes Bulandra Theater on Facebook.

On the stage of the Bulandra Theatre, he performed memorable roles, including Damis in “Tartuffe”, directed by Alexandru Tocilescu, Ricardo in “The Gardener’s Dog”, directed by Florian Pittiș, and Spizzi in “Mountain Giants”, directed by Cătălina Buzoianu.

Theater representatives thanked him for his artistic contribution and offered condolences to the bereaved family, ending the message with “May God rest in peace!”.

Senator Ionuț Vulpescu regretfully announced the passing of actor and theologian Răzvan Ionescu.

“He was a rare artist: talented and discreet, star during his college years, actor of the National Theater and the Bulandra Theater, trained and chosen by great directors, stage partner of some exceptional actors. He had genuine literary talent and was a refined and polemical theologian, with an expressiveness of ideas that came from a living, restless, assumed faith. He spoke at the funeral of Father Dumitru Stăniloae, with a gravity and a light that defined him”, wrote Vulpescu, also on Facebook.
