Cseke Attila, the interim Minister of Health, ordered a control of the Sanitary Inspection at the medical office in Bucharest where a woman fell into a coma and later died after an aesthetic procedure.
However, the checks could not be carried out, because the medical unit was closed, the Ministry of Health reported on Tuesday, April 8.
“The control team went to the spot, but the health inspectors found the medical office closed, which is why the checks could not be started”it is stated in a press release from the Ministry of Health.
The Ministry specifies that “to the extent that access will be allowed, the inspectors will verify: – compliance with the operating sanitary authorization; compliance with medical circuits; compliance with hygienic-sanitary conditions, according to legal attributions”.
“The Ministry of Health will continue the steps to complete the control, and the result of the checks will be made public”, it is also shown in the communiqué.
A facelift, turned into a tragedy
Valentina, a 45-year-old woman from Vâlcea, came to Bucharest for an aesthetic facelift operation, but the procedure turned into a tragedy. During the intervention, the patient suffered serious complications and ended up brain dead, being urgently transferred to the Floreasca Hospital.
For more than a week, Valentina was clinically dead, kept alive only by machines, according to ProTv News.
CT scans performed in the hospital indicated an intraventricular cerebral hemorrhage, most likely caused by a ruptured blood vessel.
The patient’s husband, Sorin Dumitru, told the quoted source that he was notified by telephone about the complications that had arisen:
“The doctor called me, panicking in his voice, Mr. Dumitru, I want to inform you that a complication has arisen and I have called the ambulance, please come here, I don’t know what happened. You realize that I am speechless”the man said.
Sorin Dumitru states that the intervention would have been carried out in improper conditions and that his wife would not have been subjected to pre-operative analyzes that could have prevented the tragedy.
On the other hand, the esthetician claims that the procedure was performed under appropriate conditions and that the patient had been informed about the risks.
We remind you that in 2024, a woman died after a buttock lift operation performed in Turkey. The doctors considered the intervention a success and discharged her, but the patient ended up in intensive care after only a few hours.
