The court forces Romania TV and several journalists of the station to pay huge compensations to the “Give Life” Association and its founders

The Bucharest court ordered Romania TV and several journalists of the station to pay compensation of over 3 million lei (approximately 600,000 euros), in a case in which they were accused of violating the right to dignity and image of the “Dăruiește Viață” organization and its founders.

The decision, delivered on April 30, 2026, is not final and may be appealed.

According to the court decision, the largest compensations were established in favor of the association Dăruiește Viața, which is to receive 500,000 lei each from Romania TV and some of the journalists involved, for alleged moral damages, notes paginademedia.ro.

Also, the co-founders of the organization, Oana Gheorghiu and Carmen Uscatu, each obtained 250,000 lei.

In the same case, the journalists Victor Ciutacu, Janos Korpos and Liviu Alexa were obliged, jointly with the television, to pay these amounts. Another person involved, the journalist Iosefina Pascal, was sanctioned with smaller compensations, of 50,000 lei for the association and 25,000 lei for each of the two founders.

The court also ordered the obligation of Romania TV to reproduce the ruling in the program “The climax”, as well as the payment of court costs to the plaintiffs.

The litigation was based on several broadcasts and materials broadcast in the past, in which the organization “Give Life” and other NGOs were publicly accused of irregularities and controversial practices. Among the claims and headlines circulating at the time were allegations of alleged “charity mafia investigations”, “blackmail” or “profit from donated money”aspects later challenged in court by the plaintiffs.

In the past, the National Broadcasting Council has already sanctioned television for similar content, imposing fines for shows targeting the same organizations.
