The Romanian Police announced that on Tuesday, June 9, 207 home searches are carried out at national level, as part of the JUPITER operation, coordinated by the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice and the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police.
According to the IGPR, the actions take place within the framework of criminal files under the instrumenting of the prosecutors and the police, which target several types of crimes.
These include fraud, money laundering, usury, tax evasion, embezzlement, smuggling, abuse of office, illegal acquisition of funds and circulation of counterfeit products.
The investigators are also investigating facts of false statements, false documents, simple and fraudulent bankruptcy, gambling crimes, blackmail, as well as crimes under the Fiscal Code.
Forestry and environmental crimes are also targeted
During the operation, illegal cutting of trees, theft of wood material, acts of poaching, non-compliance with the weapons and ammunition regime, but also environmental crimes, such as disposal or burying of waste outside authorized spaces, are also investigated.
According to the Romanian Police, the searches aim to document the criminal activity of the investigated persons, the recovery of damages and the unavailability of illegally obtained goods.
The persons identified as a result of the actions will be taken to hearings for the disposition of legal measures in each file.
The IGPR stated that it will communicate during the day additional information regarding the results of the operation, depending on the evolution of the investigations.
