FRF announced, on September 10, 2025, that Adrian Mititelu’s team is removed from all official competitions. The decision comes after the club had already been relegated to League 3 and severely penalized with 94 points, amid financial problems.
Under these conditions, FCU Craiova was left without the right to participate in the 2025/2026 season, not being entered in any Romanian football competition. However, Adrian Mititelu claims that he will try to reactivate the team starting this summer, but it remains uncertain in which league it could be registered and if it will meet all the required conditions.
In parallel, the case is not closed from a legal point of view either
Mititelu filed a complaint with the ECDO regarding the disaffiliation of the club, and a possible response from the European Court could influence the future of the formation.
“On June 18, I am waiting for a decision from the ECHR regarding the disaffiliation of the University of Craiova. I have been notified by the Court. Afterwards, I will talk about the future of the team. Regardless of the league, the team will continue from this summer. Depending on the decision, we will also see in which league we will perform.
You realize, after the decision, there are things that can be solved immediately (no about the formation of the team), especially since we are talking about the lower leagues. We’re talking about the lower echelons at the moment. It is a decision I will make after June 18!”said Adrian Mititelu, for digisport.ro.
