MEP Victor Negrescu, vice-president of the PSD, on Saturday launched harsh criticism towards the president of the PNL, Ilie Bolojan. The social-democrat accuses the political right of a lack of responsibility and the inability to implement the reforms they publicly call for.
Negrescu stated, in a speech given at the conference of the PSD Women’s Organization, that, in his opinion, the way the leaders of the right understand power would be wrong.
“For the right, politics means bragging about the reforms you never do, or talking bad about your political opponents. For us, power means something completely different, it means responsibility, it means building trust, it means being patient, it means finding solutions when it seems there are none“, claimed Victor Negrescu, quoted by News.ro.
“For the right, politics means bragging about the reforms you never do”
The MEP continued the comparisons:
“It is often said that politics is about power, but if we look at the rulers these days, their logic regarding power is totally different. They believe that power means lying, it means being arrogant, it means blocking the country, it means holding on to your position. For the right, politics means bragging about the reforms you never do, or badmouthing your political opponents. For us, power means something else entirely, it means responsibility, it means building trust, it means being patient, it means finding solutions when it seems that there are noneto”.
Attack on Ilie Bolojan: “Power is exercised at discretion”
Negrescu directly targeted the dismissed prime minister Ilie Bolojan, whom he says would not have the necessary profile to rule democratically.
“Ilie Bolojan does not have the qualities to hold and exercise correctly, and I say it even more directly, democratically, power. In his hands and those of his acolytes, power is exercised discretionarily and democratic dialogue seems to be worthless. Lies become the letter of the law, and respect for people and institutions disappears”, said the PSD vice-president.
The statements come in the context of major political tensions generated by the deadlock in the negotiations for the formation of a new government.
We remind you that the liberal MEP Siegfried Mureșan, proposed for prime minister by PNL, USR and UDMR, attacked Sorin Grindeanu, PSD’s proposal for prime minister, on Saturday, June 27, whom he accuses of “afterthought“, after avoiding this responsibility for two months, because now “all of a sudden” to want his mandate.
