American actor Danny Glover, known for his role in the “Lethal Weapon” film series, revealed that he suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, an incurable neurodegenerative condition that he has been dealing with for several years.
In an interview with NBC, the 80-year-old actor opened up about his diagnosis and how the disease affects his daily life.
“I can live with that to an extent”Danny Glover said. “I’m sure as it goes forward, things will be different and change.”
The actor explained that the disease affected his speech and slowed his movements, but emphasized that he has the support of his family.
“They are with me,” he declared.
Danny Glover became famous worldwide thanks to the role of detective Roger Murtaugh in the four films of the franchise “The Deadly Weapon”in which he starred alongside Mel Gibson. Throughout his career, he also appeared in acclaimed productions such as “The Color Purple’, ‘Mandela’, ‘Witness’ and ‘The Tenenbaum Family’.
In addition to his work in cinematography, Glover has also made numerous appearances on television, in series such as “Fallen Angels” and “Hearts and Minds”.
In 2022, the actor was awarded an honorary Oscar for his entire career and humanitarian work.
Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form of dementia and progressively affects memory, thinking and behaviour. The condition usually occurs in people over the age of 65, and there is currently no cure for it. According to specialists, diagnosed people live, on average, between four and eight years after diagnosis, although there are also cases where survival is significantly longer.
