The lists displayed show the student’s unique code, the educational unit of origin, the grades obtained in each test, the admission average and, as the case may be, the mentions “absent” or “removed”.

After the publication of the final results, the Ministry of Education will display the admission hierarchy for each county and for the municipality of Bucharest, and this document represents the basis for the next stage of the high school admission process.

When does 2026 high school enrollment begin

The computerized distribution is the central stage of high school admission, the moment when each eighth grade graduate finds out where he will continue his studies, depending on the average obtained in the National Assessment and the options he filled in the registration form.

The process is complex and takes place over several weeks, starting with the transmission of the databases and county hierarchies and continuing with the completion of the options, the actual distribution and the submission of files. For those who are not admitted in the first round or who wish to change their options, there is a second round of admission scheduled for August. The Ministry of Education has established a rigorous calendar that must be respected by all candidates and the educational units involved.

On July 8, 2026, the National Admissions Commission will transmit to the county commissions the database with the admission averages and the county hierarchy by activating, in the centralized IT application, specific sections and reports.

The next day, on July 9, the school secretaries will fill in the registration forms with the students’ personal data, the general averages and the results obtained at the National Assessmentand on the same day the hierarchy of graduates will be announced at the county level and in the city of Bucharest. These preparatory stages are essential for the assignment process to run smoothly, giving candidates and parents a clear picture of each student’s position in the county hierarchy.

During July 13-20, the eighth grade graduates, together with their parents and assisted by the directors, will fill in the options in the registration forms. This is a decisive moment, because the order of the options and their number can influence the chances of being assigned to the desired high school. It is recommended that students complete as many options as possible to maximize their chances of getting a place in the first stage, especially given that in Bucharest the competition is extremely high, and the difference between those admitted and rejected can be only a few hundredths.

On July 13, vocational high schools will pick up or send the annexes to the registration forms of candidates who were not admitted to the classes for which they took aptitude tests. These candidates, as well as those who have been admitted but have declared, in writing, that they are renouncing their place, can retrieve their enrollment form from the secondary education unit and complete the options to participate in the computerized allocation.

On July 14, the county commissions will send to the National Admission Center the list of candidates declared admitted to the classes for which aptitude tests were heldby confirming the completion of specific operations in the centralized IT application. This stage completes the admission process for vocational high schools and clarifies the situation of candidates who will subsequently participate in the computerized assignment.

On July 22, the first computerized distribution of candidates takes placethe time when each student receives the high school to which he will be admitted according to his average and the completed options. After this stage, between July 23 and 28, admitted students must submit their enrollment files to the educational units where they were assigned, within the deadline set by the Ministry of Education. Submission of the file is essential to confirm the place obtained, and failure to comply with this deadline may lead to the loss of the place and participation in the second stage of admission.

For candidates who did not get a place in the first stage or who did not submit their files, there is a second stage of admission, scheduled to start on July 31. On this day, the admission center is displayed, the situation of the remaining vacant places, including those intended for Roma candidates and those with special educational requirements (CES), as well as the venue and the schedule of aptitude tests or verification of modern or mother tongue knowledge.

Between August 3-12, interested candidates register for aptitude tests or language proficiency testingtests being held on August 4 and 5, and results being posted on August 6-7, followed by resolution of appeals. Between August 10-12, the commissions receive the registration applications of candidates assigned in the first stage who did not submit their files, of those rejected at vocational high schools, of candidates who took verification tests in the second stage and of those who did not participate or were not assigned in the first stage. The distribution of the second stage takes place on August 17-18, and on August 18 the results are sent to the National Admission Center.

For candidates from previous series who wish to continue their studies, separate stages are provided for evening and part-time education. On July 13, the admission calendar for evening education is announced for those who turn 18 by the start date of the coursesand registrations are made on July 23-24 and 27-28, followed by distribution between July 29 and 31. Similarly, for part-time education, for candidates turning 20 by 31 August 2026, the timetable is identical: announcement on 13 July, registrations on 23-24 and 27-28 July and allocation on 29-31 July. These stages offer a second chance to those who have not been able to integrate into the day system or who wish to complete their studies in a more flexible regime.
