Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan visited, on Friday, the Transilvania Motorway construction site to check the status of the execution works and talk with the representatives of the builders, the Government representatives sent in a press release.

The Prime Minister visited work points on the section that will connect Nădășelu – Topa Mică – Poarta Sălajului, as well as from the Românași road junction, the release states.

During the visit, the head of the Government spoke with the Romanian builder Dorinel Umbrărescu, nicknamed “the king of asphalt”. Ilie Bolojan asked him: “How are you?”at which point businessman Umbrărescu replied: “Excellent!”.

“The works are at an advanced stage. On the sections Nădășelu – Mihăiesti and Mihăiesti – Zimbor (24.59 km), the physical progress is almost 97%, with an estimated completion date of October 2026. The section Zimbor – Poarta Sălajului (12.24 km) is 99% completed and has an estimated deadline of August 2026, and the road junction from Românași is 90% completed, with completion expected in August 2026. The interconnection of the new sections with the highway from Cluj and the opening of traffic to Zalău will be done by the end of this year. He also announced that from December 1st, traffic should be unrestricted on the more than 40 km of new highway between Cluj and Zalău.

Financed from European and national funds, this particularly important investment for the regional and Romanian infrastructure is in an advanced stage of implementation.

With a total length of 42.78 kilometers, the Nădășelu-Poarta Sălajului section will have two road junctions, 14 bridges and passages and 18 viaducts. The total value of the project is over 4.6 billion lei, of which 1.28 billion lei is a contribution through the PNRR, the Government representatives also sent.

Meeting with Emil Boc

Later, Ilie Bolojan also met with the mayor of Cluj-Napoca, Emil Boc.

“We had the pleasure, together with Mr. Dan Tarcea, deputy mayor, to have a short meeting with Mr. Prime Minister Bolojan and to discuss concrete administrative issues related to the projects in the PNRR. The City Hall of Cluj-Napoca implements projects of over 100 million euros within the PNRR, with a co-financing of 50 million euros from the local budget”the mayor sent.
