The conflict between Mihai Bendeac and Dan Negru continues with new sharp lines. Guest on the podcast “We Care”, made by Șerban Copoț, the actor launched a new irony at the TV presenter, bringing back into focus the dispute that broke out at the beginning of this year, after the controversial show “Prophet Elijah”.
Challenged to talk about Dan Negru, Mihai Bendeac answered without hesitation:
“God forbid I never reach Black Dan’s level.”
Asked by Şerban Copoț if he was referring to the fact that he would not like to reach the professional level of the presenter or if the allusion has another meaning, the actor avoided providing additional explanations.
“I do not wish to comment! I have not sharpened any sword, for I need no sword to defeat him,” said Bendeac.
In early 2025, the track “The Prophet Elijah”, in which Mihai Bendeac played the main role, caused controversy, some labeling it as blasphemy.
Dan Negru publicly criticized the show, although he stated that he did not watch it in its entirety.
“The state shouldn’t enmity people! But it does! I haven’t seen the play from TNB, the one in which religion is mocked; that’s why I’m NOT posting ANY opinion about the play! But I saw the scandal after! I saw images of actors dancing lasciviously, on the cross. Their job… But the state’s job is not to finance enmity!”, the presenter wrote on Facebook.
He argued that financing the production with public money was a wrong decision.
“Those who approved the funding of the show knew that the play would be divisive, that it would cause an uproar. And yet they put the money in. I don’t think it was intentional. They’re just stupid!” Black Dan stated.
Mihai Bendeac’s reply
The actor then reacted on social media and defended both the show and the freedom of artistic expression.
“Mr. Dănuț, for some time now, with his “innocent” “cultural-educational-historical” examples, has been unveiling his new old passion: Mother Russia. But a cultured man like you should at least vaguely know the history of the arts. Thus he would understand that freedom is the essence of all values”. Bendeac transmitted.
The actor also explained the message that, in his opinion, the play conveys.
“The actress who rubs herself against the cross interprets those who… I won’t name names. It’s not an attack on Orthodoxy. It’s not an attack on faith. It’s an attack on those who use it, who mean by it to sow hatred, lack of understanding, destruction,” stated Mihai Bendeac in 2025.
