Less than a month left until the start of the 2026/2027 edition of the National Women’s Handball League and the participating teams tried their hand at various organized tournaments. Considered among the top teams, Gloria Bistrița, SCM Rm. Vâlcea and CS Rapid Bucharest won the trophies at stake.
Romania’s champion, Gloria Bistriţa, won the final of the Porta Transilvaniei Tournament, a competition she organized: 32-27 (15-15) with Corona Braşov. The 3rd place was occupied by Minaur Baia Mare, which defeated the Hungarian team Alba Fehérvár KC with 26-25 (12-9).
In the semifinals the results were recorded: Corona Braşov – Minaur Baia Mare 31-24 (16-11) and Gloria Bistriţa – Alba Fehérvár KC 32-17 (16-8).
In about a week, between August 21 and 23, the Romanian Supercup will be held in Bistrita. For women, in the semifinals on August 22, Gloria will face CSM Bucharest, and SCM Râmnicu Vâlcea will meet Corona Braşov. The final is scheduled for August 23.
During this period, the “Constantin Tiță” Memorial was also held in Rm. Vâlcea. The competition was won by the local team, which won 31-24 (20-13) in the final against the Montenegrin champions, Buducnost Podgorica. DVSC Debrecen (Hungary) took 3rd place, winning (40-29) against the Slovenian champion, Krim Ljubljana.
Budućnost Podgorica – Krim Ljubljana 24-22 and SCM Rm. Vâlcea – DVSC Debrecen 28-25 were played in the semi-finals.
Budućnost and RK Krim will compete in Group A of the Champions League, which also includes CSM Bucharest.
Another tournament was held in Bănie, Craiova Cup. The trophy was won by CS Rapid Bucharest, which in the last game defeated HC Dunărea Brăila 29-27. The team from Giulești achieved three victories, being followed in the ranking by Dunărea, with two, and the University of Craiova, with one.
Other results recorded: Craiova University – CSM Slatina 34-33, Danube – University 30-27, Rapid – Slatina 32-25, Rapid – Craiova 25-24, Danube – Slatina 30-23.
Elena Roșu was named MVP of the Craiova Cup, and Diana Ciucă was chosen as the best goalkeeper.
The National League will debut at the end of the month, the first stage having the following schedule: CM Râmnicu Vâlcea – CS Minaur Baia Mare, HC Zalău – Corona Brașov, Gloria Bistrița – CSM Iași, SCM Universitatea Craiova – CSM Slatina, Rapid Bucharest – CSM Bucharest, CSU Știința Bucharest – HC Dunărea Brăila and CSM Târgu Jiu – CSM Târgu Mureș.
