A walk through the Paris of Pallady and Matisse
Theodor Pallady (1871–1956) started his engineering studies at the Polytechnic in Dresden, but changed his trajectory to the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris, where he had a mentor to Gustave Moreau and famous colleagues like Henri Matisse, Marquet and Rouault. Paris was also the place where Pallady tied a close friendship with Henri Matisse.

In Theodor Pallady’s exhibition, the seniors are invited to discover over 100 works of the artist, representative for his Parisian period, along with masterpieces signed by Matisse, from the collection of two renowned museums: Musée de L’Orangerie and Musée Henri Matisse – Département du Nord.
“Paris is the only paradise of Pallady’s inner life, the perfect shell, in which seemingly good rituals are carried out, repeated in infinity – reading, watching the window, smoking and coffee, contemplation of flowers and women, walks around the house, on the banks of the Seine: in short, life, for him and for many of us. It is a tacit urge for everyone to enjoy the little we have, which can be lived with inspiration, grace and serenity. It is not a recipe for happiness, a revelation or a way of enrichment. It is only the exercise or gymnastics of its own beautiful, put to work daily, without pathos or frenzy ”,
says Erwin Kessler, historian and art critic.
The exhibition is orchestrated by Maria Munteanu, with an accompaniment by Erwin Kessler, and is made with the support of the French Institute in Romania and the France Embassy in Romania.
