Professor Ruxandra Achim, from the National College “IL Caragiale” from Bucharest, analyzed for “The Truth” the level of difficulty of the test subjects in the Romanian Language, from the 2026 Baccalaureate exam. The teacher also solved subjects I and II, to give the students a reference point before the publication of the scales, by the Ministry of Education.
“For the first topic, the text they received – that letter from Dinu Pilat – seemed easy to understand. The words for which they had to indicate meanings are not difficult. The questions from topic 1A are all easy to solve by referring to the text, without a doubt.
In subject 1B, the topic for the argumentative text is generous enough. It is something that targets them to a good extent, because they are all in an exam, and here everyone could relate not only to the text, but also to personal experience to support their arguments. He should have discovered, of course, the elements related to the requirement and brought them to support the arguments, but the subject does not bring any surprises.
They also had such a structure in the simulation, they also had it in the models, so I don’t see why it could have caused them a problem. The second topic, where the analysis had to be mostly technical regarding the narrative perspective, is not a surprise either – it is one of the four possible formulations for the second topic. The narrative perspective is obviously objective: they had to highlight the fact that the narrator knows more than the character, they had a third-person narration, with third-person verbs, so it was pretty clear.”explained the teacher.

Teacher Ruxandra Achim also analyzed the third topic, where students from Real and Technical had to analyze a poem written by George Bacovia, and those from Human had to analyze a poem written by Tudor Arghezi.
“For those from Real, Bacovia may have caused them problems, in the sense that the poem is very short, they are not necessarily eager to develop certain landmarks, so they may have some difficulty in reaching the minimum limit of 400 words of this essay.
For Uman, Arghezi is a good choice, it is a clear text, it is an approachable text. Okay, it’s approachable in Bacovia too, but, I repeat, the poem being very short, they often panic that they can’t reach the word limit. The poem «Plumb» by George Bacovia, being very short, could have helped the students from Real and Technological to memorize it. But the fact that they retained the poem is not necessarily a guarantee of the quality of the essay. Sure, it’s very good to know poetry, but it obviously needs to be analyzed; nor is the problem posed in another direction”explained the teacher.
Baccalaureate 2026. Test subjects written in Romanian
In the first subject of the written test, the students had to work with a fragment extracted from the volume “The soul knows no distances. Pages of correspondence with the Pillat family”signed by the author Pia Pillat. Point A of this subject included classic questions on comprehension and interpretation of the given text, and in point B, candidates were asked to develop an argumentative text of at least 150 words, expressing their point of view on the statement that preparing for an exam involves giving up their favorite activities or not.
Baccalaureate 2026. Error when printing the topics from the Romanian Language. The teachers, forced to read the statements to the students in the classrooms

In the second topic, which is worth 10 points from the total grade, the students were given the task of writing a minimum 50-word answer in which they present the narrative perspective from a fragment belonging to Liviu Rebreanu.
The most difficult part of the test was undoubtedly Topic III, which is worth 30 points and asked students from the Real and Technological profiles to compose an essay of at least 400 words on the specific features of a studied poetic text, signed by George Bacovia. In the case of students from the Human profile, the task was similar, but the poetic text chosen was one of those taught in school, belonging to Tudor Arghezi.
