Diane Keaton’s family reveals the actress’ cause of death. “Even old friends were not fully aware of what was happening”

The family of the famous actress Diane Keaton revealed that the Oscar-winning star died on October 11, at the age of 79, due to pneumonia that developed very quickly and about which very few people knew.

In a public message, those close to the artist thanked fans for the wave of love and support received and urged donations in support of humanitarian causes that were dear to Diane Keaton.

The family of the American actress Diane Keaton made public, in a statement sent to People magazine, the cause of death of the Oscar winner: pneumonia.

“The Keaton family is very grateful for the overwhelming messages of love and support they have received over the past few days on behalf of their beloved Diane,” it is stated in the press release, in which family members asked for discretion in these difficult moments and encouraged the public to honor the artist’s memory by donating to animal shelters and food banks, two causes for which the Oscar-winning actress campaigned throughout her life.

According to a close source, the actress’ death was “unexpected and heartbreaking”. Her health is said to have deteriorated rapidly, and in recent months she was surrounded only by her immediate family, who chose to keep everything in the strictest confidence.

Diane Keaton, born in 1946 in Los Angeles under the name of Diane Hall, became one of the most respected figures of American cinema. She found success in the 1970s with her role in The Godfather, and won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1977 for her performance in Annie Hall, Woody Allen’s iconic film.

Throughout his career, he played memorable roles in films such as “The Family Stone”, “Because I Said So”, “Poms” or “Book Club”. He collaborated with director Nancy Meyers and made a rare but acclaimed appearance in the HBO miniseries “The Young Pope.” In addition to acting, he directed the documentary Heaven (1987), the film Hanging Up (2000) and an episode of Twin Peaks.

The actress adopted two children, Dexter in 1996 and Duke in 2001, and was recognized for her independence. He never married, a choice he considered a form of personal freedom.
