“From now on, dogs from the Kangal, Caucasian Shepherd and Central Asian Shepherd breeds can no longer be used to guard flocks and herds in the administrative territory of Miercurea-Ciuc municipality.
Since the spring, there has been talk of banning, for reasons of public safety, those breeds of dogs that have not been bred for local grazing conditions. Dogs of the Kangal, Caucasian Shepherd and Central Asian Shepherd breeds cannot be used near inhabited areas, on pastures frequented by tourists and pilgrims, as these breeds are extremely aggressive and may attack people or domestic animals without reason“, said Korodi Attila, on Thursday, in a post on Facebook.
The decision was taken following the meeting of the City Council on Thursday, the mayor announced.
“Only in this way can we, together, prevent other tragedies and ensure safe and peaceful grazing. In the spring, the breeders asked for a postponement, but after another serious attack by some sheepdogs this fall, it was confirmed that we can no longer show patience!
Therefore, the Miercurea-Ciuc Local Council, in today’s meeting, decided to amend the grazing regulations, clearly prohibiting the use of these three breeds of dogs to guard flocks and herds. Grazing without a permit is prohibited, and the regulation also prohibits the possession of dangerous dogs. Thus, the circle closed”he added.
