A weak earthquake with a magnitude of 3.1 occurred on Saturday morning, at 5:29 local time, in the Vrancea seismic zone, Vrancea county, according to information published by the National Research and Development Institute for Earth Physics (INCDFP).

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 73.9 kilometers (km) near the following cities: 38 km west of Focşani, 72 km east of Sfântu-Gheorghe, 72 km north of Buzău, 87 km east of Braşov, 87 km south of Bacău , 89 km southwest of Bârlad.
Since the beginning of this year, 40 earthquakes have been recorded in Romania, with magnitudes between 2.1 and 4.3 on the Richter scale, according to Agerpres.
Last year, the largest tectonic movement, of magnitude 5.7, took place on February 14, in Gorj county, at a depth of 6.3 kilometers.
