Marian Aliuță recently recalled some of the most enjoyable events experienced in Ukraine, when he wore the shirt of Shakhtior and Metalurg Donetsk. The former midfielder brought back to the fore the atmosphere in the locker room of the Romanians who ruled the game in the early 2000s in the Ukrainian championship: Răzvan Raț, Cosmin Bărcăuan, Ciprian Marica and Flavius Stoican.
The Romanians then formed a close-knit gang in Donetsk, and the time spent together, far from home, left behind a lot of funny moments, some of which are hard to imagine.
Marian Aliuță: “Shh, you are disturbing these people!”
One of the stories relived by Marian Aliuță centers on Răzvan Raț and Cosmin Bărcăuan, who managed to turn a quiet evening into an episode from the movies.
According to the former midfielder, the Romanian footballers ended up “borrowing” a police car, and Bărcăuan climbed directly onto the hood of the special car, to the astonishment of the locals. The music was blaring in the courtyard, the fun was in full swing, and the authorities were not long in coming.
Marian Aliuță also remembered another moment that became viral in the Romanian locker room. Bărcăuan lost a bag full of money, later recovered, but with a noticeably smaller amount compared to the original one.
Stories of life, the joys of youth and a time when Romanians performed not only on the field, but also off it, this is what Marian Aliuță recalled in the iAM Ștucan podcast.
Marian Aliuta: I was at Raț’s house, with (no. Flavius) Stoican, Bărcăuan, and the speakers were blaring in the yard. Opposite was a block of flats, and at one point the police came: “Well, you disturbed these people!”. They gave them money (no policemen). They saw that they were from Shakhtior, I was from Metalurg, and they started saying to the others in the block: “Shh, you’re bothering them!” (no laughs). And I still have a memory with Raț, when he exchanged the police car.
Costin Ștucan: With Barcauan on the hood?
Marian Aliuta: They got into the police car and the policemen got into their car. They gave 200 dollars.
Costin Ștucan: And I understand that Barcauan was on the hood. And then he lost a bag of money.
