Grindeanu: Bolojan “must go home” if he forces the reform of magistrates’ pensions without consultations

The interim president of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, says that the prime minister Ilie Bolojan must go home, if he proposes a new project to change the retirement conditions of the magistrates, without consulting with the actors in the field or without taking into account the observations of the president Nicusor Dan.

“He must go home. If, in the future, he does the same procedure a second time, without having a dialogue with all the actors, or at least taking into account what the president of Romania says, then he must go home”said Grindeanu in the Parliament.

The PSD leader also added that the project rejected by the CCR on Monday came from the prime minister.

It is verifiable. This project came from the prime minister, worked in the prime minister’s office. You can also ask him who he worked with. And the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Labor received this project. On a project worked on articles and everything by the prime minister together with a team. (…) Obviously, everyone was aware that the approval (CSM – no) was requested on August 22. Some considered that 10 days was long enough, they assumed this. Here the Court came and said that you have to wait 30 days“, said Grindeanu.

Sorin Grindeanu also criticized the fact that the proposals of President Nicușor Dan, who had asked for the transition period to be 15 years, not 10, as established by the Government, were not taken into account.

“Including the president of Romania, and you know this, he said that there are certain articles, as a result of the dialogue that his lordship had either with the High Court, or with the CSM, with the actors in the field. The transition period 15 years, for example. That’s what the president said. This draft law initiated by the Government was not taken into account, nor the observations given by the president”, said Grindeanu.

We remind you that on Monday the judges of the Constitutional Court decided that the law that was supposed to change the special pensions of magistrates is unconstitutional. Concretely, after postponing the decision twice, today they announced that the reform of magistrates’ pensions violates the fundamental rules of the state.

They cited the lack of the CSM’s opinion, a condition that politicians will have to take into account from now on.
