How e-Sanatatea Mea will work, the platform through which Romanians will have online access to their medical records

The “e-SănătateaMea” portal project will allow patients online access to their medical history, electronic prescriptions and doctor’s appointments. The platform, developed by CNAS, will become operational in the fall of 2026, and from the 4th quarter it will include a unique scheduling system. Access is secured and data is protected. The new portal is a component of the Health Insurance Information Platform and is being developed by the National Health Insurance House, which will be responsible for its administration and maintenance.

CNAS specified that the team involved in the project is working intensively to complete the IT platform, and the estimated deadline for putting it into operation is the end of summer, with the effective start of services in the fall of 2026.

According to CNAS, the platform will offer insureds secure access to the medical information generated in the system, aiming to simplify the interaction between patients and medical service providers, pharmacies and medical device providers.

In addition, the authorities estimate that more effective use of existing data will support both the management of medical services and the development of public health policies.

The draft law on My e-Health was voted

The Chamber of Deputies adopted on Tuesday, June 30, the draft law on the development of the “e-SănătateaMea” portal, a digital platform through which patients will be able to access their medical history, electronic prescriptions and other services from the public health system online.

The legislation was approved with 279 votes in favor, no votes against and 9 abstentions, with the Senate having previously adopted the bill on June 24.

The next stages are promulgation by the president and publication in the Official Gazette, after which CNAS will start the effective implementation of the portal at the national level.

How the digital platform will work from autumn 2026

The “e-SănătateaMea” portal will be available to all insured persons in the public health system and will allow access to a series of centralized medical information. These include the history of medical services received by each patient, medical documents issued in the system, electronic prescriptions and information about the drugs and medical devices used in the treatments.

Access will be achieved through a secure authentication system, and the data will be protected according to the regulations in force regarding the confidentiality of medical information.

Another functionality included in the project is a unique electronic system for doctor’s appointments, which will become available from the fourth quarter of 2026. All medical service providers under contract with CNAS will be required to use this platform to manage appointments, and before the national expansion, the system will be tested through a pilot project.

In addition, the portal will offer electronic services designed to facilitate interaction between patients and healthcare providers, both in terms of current consultations and in the management of long-term treatments.

Patients will be able to check e-prescriptions in real time and have access to detailed information about the prescribed drugs, which can contribute to a better understanding of the therapeutic plan. Also, the platform will allow the viewing of medical documents issued in the system, replacing traditional bureaucratic procedures.

According to CNAS, the implementation of the portal aims to increase citizens’ access to their own medical data and improve communication between patients and service providers. More efficient use of the existing information in the health insurance IT system could support both the management of medical services and the substantiation of decisions at the central and local level.
