How Romanians are tricked in stores. “The seafood was probably just for flavor, because the star of the pack is clearly the ice”

A photo published by former ANPC director Paul Anghel, accompanied by a message about a frozen product from a supermarket, shows how Romanians are being bullied by some merchants.

Paul Anghel, former director of the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC), made it his mission to continue “hunting” for irregularities in stores and reporting them on social networks.

The star of the post on Saturday, May 30, is a frozen seafood product on sale in a large supermarket chain. In the photo shared by Paul Anghel, under the slogan with which he accustomed his followers, “Teapa or Drept”, the bag seems to contain ice rather than seafood.

“Finally we found a product that proves that water can be sold at the price of seafood. Romanian innovation: we freeze the profit and unfreeze the customer. Purchased from a large supermarket chain… they know which one. The seafood was probably only included for flavor, because the star of the packaging is clearly the ice.” Paul Angel signaled.

Although it is allowed to use an ice layer to keep some products in good conditions, using it excessively becomes a problem for consumers, when they get home and find that they bought more water than the actual product.

A sign that Romanians often feel pulled in the chest by merchants are the messages left by them in the comments section of the post.

“When do you ‘get into’ canned tuna too?” Many of the companies that sell this kind of thing don’t even know what tone should look like!”

“Very good that you point out these aspects that we frequently encounter in all stores … maybe measures are also taken …. although our hope is somewhere below zero or even minus …”

“And pangasius fillets are just like that: small pieces of fish loaded with lots of ice.”

“That’s how ‘icing’ is everywhere.”
