The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) drew attention to the methods of disinformation through artificial intelligence. In the post published on social networks, MAI attached a picture, generated with AI, in which two policemen arrest an old woman selling vegetables on the street.

“AI videos can be funny… but they become dangerous when they manipulate the truth. We live in a world where real and fake can easily become confused.
Protect yourself from misinformation:
- Please verify the source before sharing.
- Pay attention to details that do not seem natural.
- Follow official channels for safe information”, we transmit the ministry.
The MAI also stated that it is simple and genuine, without filters or manipulations, and requires attentive and aware people to recognize it.
“Before you believe, look carefully. Before you share, think whether you are spreading truth or an illusion.
We know that, during this period, jars of jam “make the rating” — but know that we, who work in the MAI structures, have grandparents and fondly remember that simple and true taste of childhood.
The truth needs no filters. Not even deepfakes. Only by people who choose to believe with their minds and hearts.”
Recently, the National Broadcasting Council (CNA) requested the President of Romania, Nicusor Dan, to include media education as a distinct strategic direction in the future National Defense Strategy.
According to CNA, 55% of citizens declare that they have recently been exposed to fake news, and 39% believe in conspiracy theories. Therefore, the CNA proposed:
- Systematic introduction of media education in the national curriculum;
- Digital literacy programs for all social categories;
- Strengthening the capacity of the state and civil society to counter disinformation campaigns;
- Increasing the informational resilience of the population.
