On Wednesday, June 24, the 8th grade graduates took the second written test of the 2026 National Assessment, the exam that will determine, along with the Romanian language and literature grade, their high school admission average.

The Mathematics test started at 9:00 a.m., and the students had 120 minutes to solve the requirements, after access to the classrooms was allowed until 8:30 a.m. At the end of the test, the Ministry of Education and Research published, at 15:00, both the topics and the official grading scale, allowing students and parents to check the solutions and estimate the score obtained.

The subjects also contained surprises for the students, as part III no longer had grids in its composition.

The correction paper published by the Ministry of Education includes the complete solutions for all subjects as well as the intermediate marks awarded for the correct calculation steps.

How can you calculate the grade according to the scale?

According to the assessment and grading scale, the Mathematics test is marked with a maximum score of 100 points, of which 90 points are obtained by correctly solving the subjects, and 10 points are awarded ex officio.

The final grade is calculated by dividing the total score by 10. Thus, a student who obtains 82 points will have a grade of 8.20, one with 95 points will receive a grade of 9.50, and a score of 100 points represents a grade of 10.

This simple calculation system allows parents and students to get a quick idea of the result by checking each individual exercise against the official scale, which details the complete solutions and scoring criteria for each step of the calculation.

Requirements included algebra exercises with algebraic functions and expressions, percent and fraction problems, calculations of lengths and areas, applications of circle geometry, and solutions for triangles and tetrahedra, for which full proofs and justifications were required.

The test was conducted under strict conditions, with mandatory audio-video monitoring, and the students received the topics in booklet format, with the possibility to request additional pages, which were stapled by the assistant teachers at the end, the paper having five staples on the side. The exam booklet could not be taken home after the exam.
