The Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, Daniel, sent a message on Monday, December 22, on the occasion of the Winter Holidays.
“In order to give people forgiveness of sins and eternal heavenly life, the eternal Son of God, Jesus Christ, descends from heaven, is conceived, through the work of the Holy Spirit, from the Virgin Mary and is born as a Man-Baby in Bethlehem of Judea, as predicted, seven hundred years before, by the prophets Isaiah (7, 14) and Micah (5, 1).
At the birth of Baby Jesus, a multitude of angels from heaven sang: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace between men, goodwill” (Luke 2, 14). Therefore, the celebration of the Nativity of Christ or Christmas is the celebration of the glorification of God, peace on earth and goodwill or communion between people“, the Patriarch conveyed.
The Blessed Father emphasizes that, “if we welcome this celebration with faith, hope and generous love, it brings us peace and joy in our souls, in the family, in the parish, in the monastery, in every community or institution, in society, in the people and in the whole world”.
“On the occasion of the holy holidays of the Nativity of the Lord, the Baptism of the Lord and the New Year – 2026, we wish you all health and happiness, peace and joy, along with the traditional greeting: “Happy New Year!” Patriarch Daniel also conveyed.
