Which announcement did the Minister of Education make about remedies in 2025

In 2025, the Ministry of Education announced major changes in the organization of remedial hours. Through a new methodology, the teachers will be obliged to allocate special time for these activities, so that the learning process is more balanced and responding to the needs of the students. The Minister of Education said that, at the primary level, the teachers will carry out two remedial hours, obligatory and integrated in their teaching program weekly. At the same time, high school and high school teachers will dedicate 25% of the teaching time of each discipline of remedial activities, which means consolidation, deepening and transfer of competences. These provisions apply from the school year 2025-2026 and will be monitored by the school inspectorates. At the same time, the new framework plans for high school, approved in 2025, offer increased flexibility, including for integrating these educational support activities.

How many remedial hours do students have this year

The number of remedial hours varies depending on the study level. The students in the primary cycle benefit from two hours weekly, organized by their teachers, while at the gymnasium and high school teachers must allocate a quarter of the total hours for remedial activities. Specifically, if a discipline has four hours a week, one of them will be dedicated to consolidating and fixing knowledge, and if only two hours, about half an hour turns into remedial activity. Thus, students receive constant support, integrated into the structure of the schedule, without the need for additional or improvised programs.

What are the remedial hours

Remedial hours represent educational activities meant to help students strengthen their knowledge, recover any gaps and deepen difficult notions. They are not only addressed to children with weaker results, but are designed as an intervention for the whole class or for smaller groups, depending on the needs identified. In the primary school, they can be carried out before or after the usual program and, as a rule, on groups of six to twelve students. At the gymnasium and high school, teachers can organize remedies in the form of consolidation sessions, workshops or practical projects, to facilitate the transfer of skills in real life. Their purpose is to reduce inequalities, prevent school dropout and ensure a more fair education for all.

Who are the students who will have remedial hours

The direct beneficiaries of these measures are the students who have difficulty in the learning process, those who need additional time for consolidation or who are in educational risk situations. However, remedial hours are designed to be accessible to the whole class, not just a small group. In this way, the educational system tries to provide preventive and corrective support, eliminate training gaps and give everyone children the chance to progress. By including them in school plans, remedial hours become part of the normal learning process and not an additional effort left on the shoulders of parents or teachers willing to work outside the program hours.
