Donald Trump’s victory over Democrat Kamala Harris is the hot topic of the day, when analysts, journalists or simple observers are skeptical about the future of the United States and the world as a whole.

“Is this the beginning of the end for the US?”
“In this bubble of ours there’s a sense of apocalypse now” Moise Guran begins his thoughts on social networks, emphasizing the fact that, having returned to the White House more radical and stronger than ever, Donald Trump remains an extremely unpredictable and impulsive character, so it is difficult to make a projection of what will happen happen.
“In this bubble of ours there is a sense of apocalypse now. The return of a stronger and more radicalized Trump raises a lot of questions that are pretty much unanswered at this point. Some of them:
– is this the beginning of the end for the US as a global power?
– what will happen to the fight against climate change?
– will Ukraine capitulate to Russia?
– will China take advantage of the moment to seize Taiwan?
We don’t know. No one can accurately predict what will happen next.” writes Moise Guran on his Facebook account.
And the certainties that do exist, however, are not encouraging at all, the journalist believes.
“But we know that Putin prepared and watched this scenario, we also know that Trump is a transactional president who also hates NATO and euwe know that in the next year (I say the next four) he will probably be much more concerned with what nonsense he wants to do with the US and less with global politics (which he doesn’t understand in relation to projected US power anyway) and we also know that his victory will give a strong boost to sovereign populists everywhere, but especially in EU countries.
And from us.
In 2016, when he left office, Obama somehow delegated Angela Merkel to be the leader of the West. Now not only is such a leader not really emerging (Macron still makes everyone smile, Scholz is on the sidelines, Starmer is no longer in the EU), but it could be that the idea of the West, as a cultural unit and of values, to gradually begin to fade, because anyway we are all looking through the holes (Hungary, Austria, Slovakia) beyond it”, he says.
With an eye on the extremism that has gained ground in the United States of America, but also in several European countries, Moise Guran warns of the consequences.
“However, there are a few things we know and need to prepare for:
– Freedom and liberalism will be under attack not only in the US, but also here in Europe. They must be defended, if we want Europe not to go back in time for a hundred years. I think each of us has a role.
– The EU must evolve quickly, so as not to disappear. Putin has never been more confused by Europe’s solidarity than he is now, and Trump will likely trade his allies with Russia, because… what else could he trade? Taxes on imports of Lada cars to the US?
– Here in Romania, so close to Ukraine and, possibly, soon closer to Russia, we will have to somehow look at our future beyond salary increases and pensions. She’s thick! Go vote! I don’t think anyone in this bubble can squint their nose anymore. Maybe none of the lists are Jesus, but not all of them are extremists either. Why should we look for Jesus there and turn our noses up that he is not there?”, he concludes.
“There’s a Storm Coming”
For his part, Vlad Petreanu believes that the European leaders are not sufficiently prepared at the moment for the impact that the election of Donald Trump as president in the USA has on the politics of the European Union.
“Trump won a much more comfortable victory than expected. The Europeans who believed that, as Winston Churchill said, «Americans will always do the right thing, only after they have tried everything else», they were wrong.
A storm is coming, and Europe still thinks it’s at the beach, with a cocktail with an umbrella, chill and relax.
What should happen now is for Europe to re-assume the historical role it has abandoned. To develop a common defense policy, a common foreign policy. To give up the socialist protectionism that suppresses creativity and economic growth. To become more sure of herself, to stop being afraid of herself, to assert, assert herself and do what she asserts.
But I think that even now Brussels and the rest of the EU members are not ready for reality. So some more traumas will come upon us before the awakening.
Otherwise, the dollar rises on the stock market. What does this say to the Europeans?”, he wrote Vlad Petreanu on his Facebook account.
“No matter what he does, these are the values he imposes”
As for CTP, he has made clear his views on Donald Trump repeatedly and hoped until the last moment that the Democrat Kamala Harris would manage to win.
“The voting in America is representative of the entire globe. An election that had on one arm of the scale egolatry and the wicked promises to deport millions of people, to throw the army against the population, to track down and eliminate all those who do not agree with him. His arguments were insults, countless lies, threats, the suppression of democracy, the death penalty. His disgusting machoism was appreciated by women, who voted for Kamala Harris 2 percent less than for Biden. Whatever he does, these are the values he imposes, this is the human model of worldwide success.
And in Romania, where I will still have to live”,
he says.
