“This film aims to bring to the foreground not only the genius of the composer George Enescu, but also his human side. I hope that through this production we will bring the public closer to Enescu’s soul and make him loved as he deserves. Beyond the genius composer, Enescu is the man, which the public can discover in this film. I hope that our film will contribute to the taming of some of the people, something that Enescu wanted to do, through his music. Maybe not only to tame them, but also to make them love him as he deserves”says director Toma Enache.
Sound names in the cast
The film benefits from a remarkable cast, with Mircea Dragoman in the role of George Enescu and Theodora Sandu in the role of Princess Maruca, alongside well-known actors such as Cezara Dafinescu, Manuela Hărăbor, Adrian Titieni, Cristian Sofron, Kira Hagi, Pavel Ulici, Filip Ristovski, Erica Moldovan, Codrin Dănilă and the late Constantin Codrescu. The costumes are created by the Italian Stefano Nicolao, famous for his work on Oscar-winning productions, and the music brings together works by George Enescu and original compositions signed by Sebastian Androne-Nakanishi, designated “Composer of the Year 2022” at the International Classical Music Awards.

In February 2020, “Between Pain and Amen” received the Award of Excellence at a prestigious international competition, The IndieFEST, where over the years several films that were later awarded Oscars competed. “Entre chin si amen” was awarded the “Award of Excellence Special Mention: Film Feature” and received enthusiastic reviews from the jury members. The film directed by Toma Enache also won important prizes at film festivals in London and Toronto.
