In the context of weather forecasts that indicate extreme temperatures at national level in the next period, CFR announces that special measures will be applied for safe traffic.

Thus, in areas where the temperature at the level of the rail reaches or exceeds 50 degrees Celsius, the speed of trains will be reduced, in accordance with the provisions of the railway instructions in force, CFR reports in a statement, quoted by AGERPRES.

Throughout the railway network, the specialized personnel within the CFR will permanently carry out additional activities of verification and monitoring of the infrastructure status.

The temperatures recorded at the level of the rails are supervised in real time, so that the maintenance teams can intervene promptly where the situation requires it, preventing any incidents or dysfunctions.

The company mentions that the temporary reduction of the speed of trains in heat conditions is an essential measure, meant to ensure the railway traffic in the best safety conditions, even in extreme weather situations. The company also recommends the traveling public to consult the trains in advance, given the extremely forecast temperatures at national level and the possible disturbances caused by the heat.

Turning restrictions on multiple roads in the country

Also, extreme temperatures oblige the authorities to establish tonnage restrictions on several roads in the country. CNAIR announces that vehicles with total technically admissible mass (MTMA) greater than or equal to 7.5 tonnes will not be able to travel on sectors of highways, express roads and national roads in Mehedinți, Gorj, Dolj, Olt, Vâlcea, Teleorman, Argeș, Giurgiu, Dâmbovița, Ilfovița and Braila.

Meteorologists have issued a red code of heat in the 15 counties mentioned above and in Bucharest, which is valid from Monday, July 7, 10:00 and until Tuesday, July 8, 10:00.

Meteorologists announced on Sunday, July 6, the extension of the Red Cochic code for Monday, until Tuesday morning, in 15 counties of the country and in Bucharest.
