ALTREAL, the first independent green energy ecosystem platform, has officially launched
At a crucial moment for Romania’s energy transition, the platform ALTREAL.ro was officially launched during the conference “Voice of Green Energy Professionals”organized at Radisson Blu, Bucharest. The event brought together many of the most important players in the industry: entrepreneurs, technical solution providers, financiers, NGOs and journalists.
Romania reached 5800 MW of installed photovoltaic capacity on September 1, 2025 and is expected to exceed 7000 MW by the end of the year. The more than 250,000 prosumers have a cumulative capacity that exceeds photovoltaic parks. Only 12% of them have storage, and self-consumption is only 30%. Storage parks are not yet keeping pace with growth either, with a capacity of just 249MW/432MWh. The new Prosumer Law addresses the grievances of prosumers regarding the compensation received, but does not solve the problem of grid pressure faced by energy distributors. Against the backdrop of the elimination of energy price ceilings, more and more Romanians are looking for alternative solutions. At the same time, the lack of qualified personnel is becoming a major problem: Romania will need over 88,000 solar energy specialists by 2029.
OTHERWISE is the first independent platform in Romania that combines a photovoltaic offer comparator, a rigorous installer validation system and a national green energy education program. Ranked in the Top 35 most innovative Romanian startups, the platform offers consumers and companies digital tools for safe and sustainable decisions, in a fragmented and insufficiently regulated market.

Lucian Toaderthe founder of ALTREAL, points out that the lack of standards leads to serious risks for consumers: “Romanians fear that they will make the wrong choice. That they will sign with an apartment company etci will be left with poor quality panels or unsecurely mounted systems. For example, an Intertek study of 600 systems from 14 countries shows that over 90% have major installation problems, many invisible, which can only be detected with specialized equipment. ALTREAL comes to clarify, educate and certify both suppliers and consumers.”
Research company MKOR Consulting presented, for the first time, the results of a national study on perceptions, behaviors and real risks in the photovoltaic market.
Cori Cimpocafounder of MKOR, pointed out that “energy efficiency is no longer a differenceiator, but a minimum requirement. Marketa, legislation and the need to save converge towards the same objective – a data-driven, educated green transitioni.e. and itrust“.
The study presented shows that 8 out of 10 construction and installation companies anticipate widespread adoption of energy automation in the next 3–5 years, based on market demand.
An appeal to authorityyou andand industry
The participants launched a clear appeal to the authorities and the private sector for:
● Stable and predictable financing for photovoltaic systems and heat pumps
● Removing bureaucratic barriers for energy communities
● Support for storage and automation investments
● VAT reduction for green equipment
Important voices delivering key messages at the conference included:
Albert Sun – Kilowat: “Marketa is suffocated by price pressure, and that directly affects people’s safety. We urgently need regulations and mandatory annual inspections, as with gas plants. This is the only way we can avoid accidents and eliminate unfair competition by companies that avoid the law and VAT.”
Alexandru Chirilă – Founder of One Concept:
“We talk a lot about producing green energy, but not enough about how to consume it correctly and safely. Heat pumps are a solutionit is efficient and much safer than gas, it is still easier to use natural gas plantsand the legislation is to forbids them. We demonstrate through concrete projects that it is possible to switch to clean energy without compromising safety.“
Cristian Alin Cocosila – Stratospark: “For too long the market has competed only on price, not quality. We have to say ‘notcompromises and to be educatedit continues
to customers through maintenance etcand consultancy. The next step for the industry is maturation: digitization, monitoring and professional services after installation.”
Diana Left – Darcom: “Safety does not only mean an ANRE authorization. We invest in training and vetting for our teams and want the whole market to raise standards. Only with well-trained installers and correctly installed equipment can we inspiretrust.“
Octavia Niekoop – Greenvolt: “Education in energy is vital and social media can help enormously, but only if used responsibly. There is a need for energy leaders to collaborate and combat misinformation through educationie also real examples.“
Cristina Ioan – Depanero: “A verification platform is useful for professionalizing the market. Market operators working with subcontractors need centralized information, transparency and clear selection criteria. Through access to validated installers and their technical history, we can reduce the risks etcand increases the quality of work delivered to clients.”
Christian Lefter – Lemetal Energy: “The state must reduce VAT on photovoltaic equipment, eliminate competitionto unfairness by foreign companies selling without VAT and to stop blockages in Casa Verde and RePower programs. Marketae flooded with products without certifyreal and without guarantee, rules are needed, etcand verification.”
Sergiu Popescu – Enerstor: “Ihonest installers can no longer compete with those who compromise safety and quality for low prices. Many systems have undersized cables and faulty mountings that become a real hazard after 2–3 years. Safety should come before price.“
Dorinela Neagu – Stratospark: “The industry suffers from a major shortage of electricians and technicians. The young generation no longer chooses technical jobs, and without professional education and training centers we will not be able to talk about quality and safety inin green energy.”
What’s next?
ALTREAL will continue to provide:
● Periodic studies on consumer perception and market trends
● Certifications for installers that meet safety and quality standards
● A digital platform for information and comparison, accessible to any beneficiary, individual or company
● A national education program in schools, high schools, universities and on digital platforms aimed at increasing the confidence and knowledge of Romanians and companies about alternative energy solutions, self-consumption and responsible behavior
“We want to rebuilding trust in a field that can save money, reduce risk and support the economy on our way thattre transittake European energy“, he declared in conclusion Lucian Toaderfounder of ALTREAL.
The event was made possible with the support of strategic partners who support the development of a markettransparent energy eand professionals in Romenia: Electrica, DEKRA etcand MKOR.
