The joy of a prize of 500,000 euros turned into a conflict: a Romanian woman from Italy ran away with the winning ticket, and after its disappearance she contacted her partner, Constantin, who demands the sharing of the prize according to the initial agreement.
The Romanian woman from Italy, who disappeared after winning 500,000 euros in a scratch-off ticket offered by her partner, Constantin, on March 8, was reported to the carabinieri by him, according to Il Messaggero newspaper.
The 55-year-old claims that the deal between the two was for the amount to be split equally. Meanwhile, the woman announced that she was staying with her sister in Modena, after it was initially believed that she would have gone to Romania or England, where family relatives live.
In a phone call, she allegedly told her partner that she would be back in April and that she had left for work. “He called me four days ago. He said he was finishing work on April 20th and was coming home. He didn’t tell me exactly where he was, only that he was in Modena. He said he had found a job as a maid”declared Constantine.
“The deal was to split the amount in half,” said the man in the La Vita live show, from Rai 1. He has already called a lawyer and sent a report to the authorities to try to block the collection of the award.
It all started on March 8, at Bar Renato in Carsoli, L’Aquila province (Abruzzo), when the Romanian man bought a 5 euro lottery ticket and offered it to his partner instead of flowers.
The ticket turned out to be a winner, and the owner of the restaurant confirmed that the ticket was bought by the man.
Witnesses reported that the woman verified the winnings and then gave the ticket to the concubine for confirmation. After the value of the prize was confirmed, the two stayed in the bar for a while. “They stayed in the bar for a long time after the win. Were they happy? Yes, but without exaggerating”said the boss.
Later, the woman would have deposited the note at the bank, left home and stopped answering the phone. His concubine believes the woman intends to keep the entire amount and not share it.
According to Italian law, the winnings of a “Gratta e Vinci” ticket legally belong to the person who physically holds the ticket at the time of cashing, especially if it is not nominal.
