The Romanian authorities announce the implementation, on the bridge over the Danube at Giurgiu-Ruse, of a permanent routing system managed by traffic pilots employed by CNAIR. The system is being implemented while the work started by the Bulgarian side to strengthen the bridge continues.
“Considering the new regulations regarding transit on the Giurgiu-Ruse Bridge, the Giurgiu County Police Inspectorate informs traffic participants about the implementation of a permanent routing system, intended to protect the resistance structure of the bridge and prevent road incidents. Due to the ongoing repair work on the Bulgarian sector, the flow of vehicles is managed by traffic pilots employed by CNAIR, who ensure a controlled and active transit, and the parking of any vehicle on the Romanian side of the bridge is strictly prohibited. Traffic is coordinated by radio communication between the ends of the bridge, ensuring an alternative flow”the Police officials announced on Tuesday, according to News.
Traffic police officers from the Giurgiu County Police Inspectorate monitor the areas adjacent to the former border crossing point for the smooth flow of road traffic and to prevent blockages on the access roads to the bridge.
The authorities advise drivers to respect the signals of the traffic controllers, specifying that the entry to the bridge is made only at their indication, in order to avoid blocking the vehicles on top of the structure. Disregarding the instructions of the traffic controllers or stopping unjustifiably on the bridge may attract contraventional sanctions and may endanger the structural integrity of the bridge.
To avoid congestion, tourists are also advised to use the other border crossing points with the Republic of Bulgaria: Vama Veche, Negru Vodă, Bechet or Calafat. Information about border traffic is available on the Traffic Online application of the Border Police.
