Video The feature film “Sentimental Value” won the award for the best European film at the EFA gala in Berlin

The film “Sentimental Value”directed by Joachim Trier, was named the best European film at the 38th annual European Film Academy (EFA) Awards, held Saturday night in Berlin, according to the event’s official website.

The award for the best European film was announced by the French actress Juliette Binoche.

The movie “Sentimental Value”a 2025 dramatic feature film directed by Joachim Trier, who also co-wrote with Eskil Vogt, tells the story of sisters Nora (Renate Reinsve) and Agnes (Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas), who are reunited with their estranged father, Gustav (Stellan Skarsgard). The cast also includes Elle Fanning and Anders Danielsen Lie.

Last year, the EFA award for the best European film went to the French film “Emilia Perez”, directed by Jacques Audiard.

The 38th edition of the European Film Academy Awards Gala, dubbed “European Oscars”took place in the Haus der Kulturen der Welt performance hall in Berlin.

The European Film Academy Awards are considered some of the most prestigious honors in the film industry. EFA’s approximately 5,400 members vote on the winners in several categories, as does the United States’ Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which awards the Oscars.
