At Art Safari, in the new exhibition “The Charm of Antiquity: Art Treasures from the Intesa Sanpaolo Collections”, which opens on November 13
Art Safari announces the opening of the exhibition “The Charm of Antiquity: Art Treasures from the Intesa Sanpaolo Collections” on Thursday, November 13, presenting a selection of outstanding works from a vast collection, chosen for their artistic value and beauty.
These include Pablo Picasso’s masterpiece The Painter and His Outdoor Model (1963), as well as Il Canaletto’s Capriccio with Gothic Church and Lagoon (ca. 1720–1721). Other big names of the exhibition: Giovanni Paolo Panini, Pieter van Bredael, Jan Frans van Bloemen, Giovanni Ghisolfi, Carlo Labruzzi, Vincenzo Martinelli or Lord Mancini (Francesco Mancini).

Pablo Picasso visits the Roman city of Pompeii in March 1917, being impressed by the ancient frescoes. The discovery of the buried city at the foot of Vesuvius inspires him, and this fascination for the heritage of the ancient world comes to life today at Art Safari, where visitors can discover the unique way in which one of the most fascinating themes in the history of art and artistic taste is explored: Antiquity, seen as the absolute model of ideal beauty.
The master Il Canaletto, famous for the sensitivity with which he captures the Venetian atmosphere, became from his youth a representative of the pictorial genre called veduta (very detailed paintings of city landscapes). The work exhibited at Art Safari captures the mysterious charm of Venice, seen as if through a dream, on the border between reality and fairy tale.
Curator: Fernando Mazzocca, exhibition architecture: Diana Nicolaie, coordinator: Monica Dumitru. The exhibition is made in partnership with the Istituto Italiano di Cultura Bucarest.
