“Feedback received: day off between exam tests! We have taken into account the proposals received and the opinions expressed in the public space and we will introduce a free day between tests at the National Assessment 2025. At the Baccalaureate 2025 we will introduce a free day after the second test“, wrote Ligia Deca on Facebook.
Also, the Minister of Education specified that this proposal will be discussed on Thursday within the Social Dialogue Commission at the level of the Ministry of Education, after which the final calendar of the exams will be announced.
“We will propose this variant of the calendar, with free days between tests, at tomorrow’s meeting of the Social Dialogue Commission at the level of the Ministry of Education, then we will also communicate the final calendar of the exams. I’m glad we get feedback when we release documents for public consultation. Institutional transparency, constructive feedback and dialogue are always the best ways to make the best decisions for children.”, Ligia Deca added.
Initially, the free day between exam tests had disappeared from the calendar proposed by the Ministry of Education. The Federation of Parents supported the reintroduction of days off to provide extra time for rest and preparation between tests.
According to the National Federation of Parents, introducing a day off between National Assessment tests for 8th graders is essential to reduce stress and improve their performance. At the age of 14-15, these students are still developing cognitively and emotionally and need rest and time to better manage the pressure of exams, parents’ representatives say.
Among the reasons listed by EDUPART are stress reduction, better preparation, mental health and effective review.
Between 2018 and 2023, the free days between the Baccalaureate exam tests were eliminated, but in 2024 they were reintroduced between the compulsory and optional test.
