In the noble landscape of Transylvania, where the viticulture tradition intertwines with centuries-old history, Bethlen-Haller Castle remains a living symbol of Romanian excellence and traditions. Built in the 16th century with French Renaissance-inspired architecture, the castle today represents the active heart of the Jidvei Domains. Beyond its imposing walls, modern wine tourism has begun to write a new chapter, one where respect for heritage meets cutting-edge technology to offer guests a complete experience, whatever the weather or season.
What legacy are the Domains of Jidvei building and what is the vision of Premium tourism

Jidvei domains are not only the largest producer of DOC wines in Romania, but also an ambassador of Romania internationally. With a vineyard of over 2,500 hectares — the largest in Europe with a single owner — the brand managed to establish itself in the Top 100 Premium producers worldwide. This leadership position comes with a commensurate responsibility: that of creating a development framework adapted to the dynamics of today’s world.
For Jidvei, the investment in the outdoor spaces was not a simple facility, but a strategic step for continuous development. The vision was clear: transform the terraces into “all-seasons” destinations that honor the site’s history while providing operational security for large-scale events. Thus, the partnership with Sun Leader started in 2018 became the engine of an important transformation in the guest reception infrastructure.
A record for the ever-expanding Sun Leader

The evolution of the Bethlen-Haller Castle project is marked by figures that impress with their scale. If in the first stages the collaboration focused on spaces dedicated to tastings and the installation of three modules of retractable pergolas, the year 2026 brings a record expansion for Sun Leader. The current project aims to supplement these retractable pergolas adapted for events at the castle by adding seven new massive structures, all measuring 20 x 13m per module.
Upon completion of the works, the field will benefit from a total area of over 2,600 square meters of modernized terraces with pergolas, becoming for Sun Leader the largest development of this type in Romania. This state-of-the-art infrastructure will allow the simultaneous accommodation of 2,500 people, providing a protected space for art festivals, concerts and exclusive releases, without compromising the quality of the experience at the castle.
The technical information of the project, in brief:
- Final built surface: 2,600+ sqm of retractable pergolas for events.
- Structure: 10 independent modules (20 x 13 m per module) made of aluminum and additional metal structures.
- Terrace capacity: 2,500 guests at a time.
- Features: Automated systems, adjustable lighting, waterproof membranes and high structural strength.
Minimalist technology on a large scale and sustainable gastronomy

The major challenge of this project was the integration of large structures without affecting the visual integrity of the site and the historical monument. The technical solution implemented by Sun Leader uses customized aluminum structures, “technically camouflaged”, so that modern technology blends properly with architecture, history and heritage.
The guest experience is completed by a sustainable gastronomic approach. Certified vegetable crops are grown on the castle grounds, which go directly to the location’s kitchen. Thus, visitors will be able to enjoy an open-air concert or a smaller event, with the guarantee of a completely original experience.
Behind this transformation is the vision of Eugeniu Lisnic, CEO and founder of Sun Leader, who transformed the company into a strategic partner for the Premium segment of hospitality. “The expansion to 2,600 square meters underlines a clear trend: the need to invest in sustainable solutions that ensure business continuity 365 days a year,” he declares.

With a portfolio that also includes other reference projects, such as Fratelli or City Grill Group, Sun Leader proves that a properly arranged terrace ceases to be a seasonal resource, becoming a stable economic engine. At Bethlen-Haller Castle, this vision has created a center of attraction for history and gastronomy lovers, confirming that the future of Romanian tourism belongs to locations that embrace innovation without forgetting their roots.
