Career choice, decisive for health. A specialist's advice: “The job should be related to a passion that has existed since childhood”

Completion of studies is a very important moment for young people, being the time when they have to choose a path in life. Many times, this path is represented by a career to follow.

But, experts claim, many young people do not know what they will do after they leave the faculties or high schools. Thus, many of them end up having jobs they don't appreciate, just to get a monthly income. This, say psychologists, can even harm health.

Young people should follow their passions

According to psychologists, there are many young people who work only to obtain a monthly income, without the chosen occupation causing them any other satisfaction.

Thus, the specialists say that it would be indicated for the job to be related to a passion that has existed since childhood.

We meet a lot of young people who are unable to orient themselves professionally. They finish their studies and can't find work, they don't know where to turn. Many times, this happens because young people have chosen their college by chance, without a dream or a passion. Thus, we have graduates in various fields, who will never use what they learned on the school benches. It's very important for a young person to establish a path as early as possible, perhaps from high school,” stated Andreea Coman, clinical psychologist.

At the same time, psychologists argue that this can lead to the appearance of quite delicate health problems, such as depression or anxiety.

“It is unpleasant to go to work only for a monthly salary, without feeling at least a little pleasure. This lucu can also cause health problems. We have patients who face depression, anxiety, because of their job“, added the psychologist from Iesa.

Romania's youth, unemployed

The data provided by Eurostat show us that in Romania there is an unemployment rate of 22.2% among young people under the age of 25. Thus, last year, Romania occupied the fourth position in the rankings of EU member countries, after Spain, Greece and Sweden.

At the level of the European Union, the youth unemployment rate was 14.5%. Romania has one of the highest youth unemployment rates among European Union member states, according to Eurostat data.

At the age of 15, almost 100% of the population of the EU and Member States is still in school. As young people age, many enter the labor force, become employed, unemployed, or remain out of the labor force. Not all young people make this transition at the same age, so there is a gradual increase in the number of young people in the workforce“, Eurostat representatives appreciate.
