Every year on August 30, Orthodox Christians celebrate Saint Alexander, known in popular belief as the “protector of mankind”. It is said that through his prayers he saved Constantinople from destruction during a violent storm.

He passed to the eternal ones at the age of 98, after having fought unceasingly so that the true faith would not be defiled by heresies.
It is said that on this day, people should be gentler and more attentive to their neighbors, and not speak ill of anyone.
