“Today, together with the representatives of livestock breeders, we agreed on a series of quick solutions to overcome the wave of plague of small ruminants with outbreaks in several areas of the country. We had a frank dialogue with these determined and hardworking people and we came to a clear conclusion: we have a common priority interest, that of solving this crisis situation with as little damage as possible to animal breeders”wrote Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu, on Facebook.

The Prime Minister emphasized that “The Romanian government is willing to make every effort, together with all institutions with attributions in the field, to maintain open relations with the states that import Romanian animals, both from Europe and especially from the Arab countries”.

“The measures agreed today can help us overcome this obstacle without any restrictions on exports from our country! I know what a huge effort it is to raise animals and I appreciate the work of these people enormously! That is why it is important that we pursue our common interest together. If all animal breeders earn money from this export, Romania actually wins”, said Marcel Ciolacu.

Plague of Small Ruminants (PMR) is a very serious viral disease that affects several species of small ruminants, domestic and wild, very contagious and with a very severe evolution, ending in 70% exitus.

Clinically, the disease is characterized by evolution from superacute to subacute, with manifestations of fever and general, digestive and respiratory disorders, and morphopathologically by hemorrhages, ulcerative lesions, erosions or necrosis on the digestive and respiratory mucosa, in some cases by pneumonia or bronchopneumonia.
