After the definitive break with George Simion, Claudiu Târziu is consolidating his new party, slowly but surely. On Saturday he participated in the establishment of the Bihor branch of ACT, together with several former AUR members co-opted in his new political project.
While all eyes are on the political crisis generated by the fall of the government and on the tense discussions within the major parties, the former AUR co-president, Claudiu Târziu, strengthens his party established after the definitive break with George Simion, by launching a new local structure in Bihor.
The event took place on Saturday, May 30, in a room of the Continental Forum hotel, the former Dacia hotel in Oradea, decorated, in classic sovereignist style, with portraits of historical figures such as Avram Iancu, Horea, Cloșca and Crișan.
Among the approximately 100 participants were numerous former AUR members, some of whom came in popular fashion and kept the habit of filming or broadcasting live the important moments of the meeting. According to local media, the event began with the singing of the national anthem, after which the party leaders spoke, in turn, about the organizational plans and the direction they want to follow.
The leadership of the local structure was entrusted to Cosmin Munteanu, also a former AUR member.
Robert Alecu, elected deputy of Bacău on the AUR lists, left this party, currently general secretary of the Conservative Action Party, announced that the formation already has structures in 33 counties and that the organization in Bihor must be built in the next six months.
“Minimum 200 members with memberships confirmed by the Center, local organizations in at least one fifth of the UATs in the county, with a minimum of 10 members each at the commune level, 15 at the city level, 20 in the municipalities, respectively 50 in the county seat municipality”, Robert Alecu mobilized the local representatives.
“We don’t care about inflated numbers, it’s better to have 200 active members than 500 on paper. We don’t want hasty people, we want quality people.” he also said.
Claudiu Târziu, subtle attack on George Simion
In his speech, Claudiu Târziu avoided naming George Simion directly, but his messages contained several references to the way AUR functioned after the break between the two. The former party leader criticized the “cult of personality”, which he said was “leading to bankruptcy”, and tried to convey the idea that he wanted the new party to operate differently.
“We are not cut off from the sun, we do not have special virtues. We are some people who are tired of the programmatic collapse of Romania and that is why they decided to act politically”, Târziu said to those present.
Claudiu Târziu launched his own sovereignist party, two months after resigning from AUR
The ACT leader, in whose opinion the Romanian state has been operating on the wrong foundations since the communist period, also explained what he means by the political objective of the party, which he summarizes with the formula “refoundation of Romania”.
He claims that he wants “a meritocratic state”, in which people are employed in the public system based on skills, “not on paychecks or paychecks”, but also “an investor state”, which helps people to support themselves and not remain dependent on aid.
At the same time, he also spoke of a “protective state”, which intervenes when citizens are disadvantaged, and a “visionary state”, which pursues long-term projects and does not change priorities every time the government changes.
Target: to enter the Parliament in 2028, with 20%
Beyond the internal organization of the party, Claudiu Târziu has already set a clear electoral target for 2028: entering the Parliament with a score that would allow the party to have a say.
“In one year we made a party from scratch and took it to Parliament with 10%, and if we were listened to, it would be in government today. ACT’s target is towards 20%, because it is not enough to enter Parliament, we don’t want to be a hinge party, we want to give the direction for Romania”, said the former AUR co-president, also explaining where the votes could come from.
“The world is tired of the circus and panarama, it wants serious politicians. AUR has its electorate. SOS, as long as it exists, has its electorate, so can POT, but together they only cover 34% of the potential of 65-70%, according to some polls, called – let’s call it that, although I don’t like it – sovereignist. So that sovereignist potential is not totally politically represented, there are still at least 30% of Romanians who did not vote with a nationalist-conservative party, but who would vote with one if they were convinced of its plans, of its leaders, of the way it does politics. I am targeting them, I do not overlap with the other parties, I believe that these Romanians must be represented and I am addressing them”. said Claudiu Târziu for the local press.
