A colleague of the deceased doctor, who spoke to Digi24 on condition of anonymity, describes an environment where burnout is constantly felt and sometimes even mocked in discussions between doctors.

“There are a lot of jokes in hospitals about ‘do this to me too, let me relax’. All the time around me they were just treated as jokes“, said the resident.

According to him, the high workload is the main problem facing doctors, especially in emergency departments:

“Exhaustion is very high, although the main problem is a very high volume of work, especially in the emergency department“.

“You could tell he was tired”

The doctor’s colleague also testifies that the young resident was not very close to him, but he talked to him a few times, enough to notice his condition.

“I know he always told me he was tired. That was his main problem”the doctor stated, adding that “you could see on him that he was tired“.

The young man was in his last year of residency and was going to practice at Giurgiu Hospital. On the day of the tragedy, he had entered the guard in the morning, and his colleagues raised the alarm after noticing that he was no longer responding, after entering the toilet.

Medical personnel quickly intervened and began resuscitation maneuvers, but without success.

According to colleagues, the doctor was well-regarded professionally and had not previously exhibited worrisome behaviors. He was married to a doctor and had two small children.

The investigation is ongoing, and the exact circumstances of the death will be established.
