Olguța Vasilescu states that the tensions with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan have reached a critical point, so PSD is analyzing a possible withdrawal from the government, and warned that this would clearly lead to the fall of the government.
Olguța Vasilescu, mayor of Craiova and leader of PSD Dolj, said on Monday, January 19, in a telephone intervention on Antena 3, that the tensions between PSD and Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan have reached a critical point, letting it be understood that the party no longer wants him at the head of the government.
“Every day Mr. Bolojan gives us reasons to understand that we cannot team up”, stated Olguţa Vasilescu, emphasizing that this situation risks leading to the withdrawal of the PSD from the government.
“We are in a consultation procedure with the party members whether or not we will remain in the government and it seems that every day Mr. Bolojan gives us reasons to understand that we cannot form a team. Because this too that happens in CraiovaI consider it a kind of sabotage and that’s because so far nothing like this has happened, like any Minister of Energy – that it was Mr. Burduja who supported this company, which belonged to the Government… The fact that money was found for other programs and not for Craiova, I’m starting to take it personally. (…)
I don’t think we will need to file a no-confidence motion, I think we are simply withdrawing from the Government. And in no case, if anyone expects, that we will support the government of the right from parliament, in opposition“, declared Olguţa Vasilescu.
The Mayor of Craiova wanted to emphasize that the withdrawal of the PSD from the government would have immediate effects on the political and governmental structure, as the change in the configuration of the coalition could lead to the effective fall of the Bolojan Government.
Asked about possible alliances after PSD’s possible exit from the government, Olguţa Vasilescu stated that, at the moment, the party is not considering any concrete scenario until the members are consulted.
“We are not considering any option for now, because the moment we leave the government, we will then make the strategy. For now, let’s see what our party colleagues say. I would not like to give a direction before all our colleagues have been consulted”, she explained.
Olgutea Vasilescu’s statements highlight the fact that PSD no longer sees it possible to collaborate with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan and that the tensions in the coalition are serious enough to justify an exit from the government, turning the political situation into a critical decision point for the party.
