What parents and grandparents think about the flu vaccine in children. Results of the INSCOP Research survey

A recent study conducted by INSCOP Research analyzes the opinions of parents and grandparents regarding the influenza vaccination of children and reveals surprising perspectives about its administration in schools and kindergartens.

The study “Parents’ and Grandparents’ Attitudes Regarding Children’s Influenza Vaccination”, carried out by INSCOP Research between December 5 and 23, 2025 at the behest of the Association of Private Schools, highlights that 74.5% of respondents believe that flu vaccination can prevent the flu. Specifically, 71.1% of parents and 78.6% of grandparents share this opinion.

In contrast, 18.3% (21.4% of parents and 14.2% of grandparents) believe that the flu cannot be prevented by the vaccine, 7% did not answer, and 0.3% refused to answer.

These results underline a majority acceptance of vaccination, but also the existence of significant reservations among a segment of respondents, indicating the need for additional and transparent information campaigns.

Another aspect highlighted by the research is the willingness of parents and grandparents to allow their children to be vaccinated directly in educational institutions.

Thus, 52.4% of respondents (44.3% of parents and 63.2% of grandparents) declared that they would “definitely” agree, and 23.3% (26% of parents and 19.8% of grandparents) chose the option “probably yes”.

Instead, 6% (8.5% of parents and 2.4% of grandparents) opted for “probably not”, and 15.3% (19.5% of parents and 9.6% of grandparents) answered “no, not at all”. The rest of the respondents did not know or did not answer.

Full presentation of the study

According to INSCOP Research, these data will contribute to the debate on prevention and priorities in children’s health, in the context where misinformation and lack of information affect the authorities’ ability to implement effective health policies.

Perceptions, Fears and Responsibilities”, which will take place at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the City of Bucharest (CCIB Palace), str. Ion Ghica no. 4, Aula Carol I, starting at 10.00.

The event will be attended by medical experts, representatives of civil society and decision-makers, to discuss the importance of vaccination and methods of communication to the public.

The opinion poll was conducted by INSCOP Research at the request of the Association of Private Schools. The data were collected between December 5 and 23, 2025 by the CATI method (telephone interviews), the volume of the simple, stratified sample being 1006 people, with a maximum data error of ± 3.1%. The data is representative of the target population consisting of parents who have children aged 2-18 and grandparents who have grandchildren aged 2-18, states INSCOP Research.
