Ponta is outraged after the tragedy in Rahova: “If it were me, they would protest. Don’t crack your face with shame”

Former Prime Minister Victor Ponta reacted after the explosion that rocked the block of flats in Rahova, emphasizing the lack of reaction of the authorities and the state of resignation of the Romanians.

“Misfortunes keep happening and it’s like people aren’t even sensitive to them anymore, it’s like we get used to the troubles. I don’t think the government should resign, but the fact that nothing happens – it came out Nicusor Dan and said: «it is inadmissible». 10 years ago they were shouting «resignation», you should not expect anything good from those people – they are corrupt“, declared Victor Ponta on Romania TV.

The politician believes that those guilty will pay for the suffering caused, but warns that Romanians should not be mistaken that the situation will be resolved quickly.

“Everyone will pay, I am convinced of this. It is an unforgivable sin. These people have a rotten soul and they will be punished. My concern is for the Romanians and for Romania. You voted for something, it doesn’t matter what you voted for; you were told that the taxes will not increase – it doesn’t matter what he said. The maintenance is more and more expensive, everything is double, triple. He told you that it is safe in the house? It is not safe in the house. Really that’s how hardened our soul is, we don’t feel anything anymore. It happens to me very often: people stop me, “Mr. Ponta, are we getting rid of them?” We don’t get rid of them, because they are held by outsiders, because some from Romania sold their souls to others who allow themselves to be manipulated“, said the former prime minister.

Painful memories from the Collective

Victor Ponta also brought up the fire at Colectiv in October 2015, which happened during his mandate. He believes that if he was prime minister now, people would have protested and demanded the resignation of politicians, which is not happening today.

If it was me or Grindeanu or Ciolacu, they protested. It is an injustice that Romanians have become accustomed to. It’s a constant pain. Speaking of the Romanian state: 10 years after that tragedy, in which hundreds were injured, Romania has no bed for the burned victims. I put them on the plane, if they escape to another country, fine, if not… The leaders, who still live well today10 years ago they said that Ponta did not have enough beds. Do not crack your face with shame: how is it possible after 10 years? Vlad Voiculescu made a 3 million euro film, couldn’t you make 5 hospital beds to treat those victims so that we don’t transfer them? When you took 3 million euros to film yourself, you couldn’t make 5 beds. 200 can’t be done and we never will. 15 beds could be made, 150 not. It has no city 200, it’s like waiting for something to happen. This country is just a cash cow”added the former prime minister.
