The fugitive oligarch Ilan Șor, sentenced to 15 years in prison in the Republic of Moldova and currently in the Russian Federation, published images in which he appears with the Romanian MEP Diana Șoșoacă, at the International Economic Forum in Saint Petersburg, according to NewsMaker.

MEP and leader of SOS Romania, Diana Șoșoacă, announced the other day that she is participating in the International Economic Forum in Saint Petersburg, an event often nicknamed the “Russian Davos”, where she appeared alongside Marina Tauber, one of the most controversial political figures in the Republic of Moldova. The event is organized under the patronage of Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
Marina Tauber, former vice-president of the “Sor” party, a group declared unconstitutional and abolished in the Republic of Moldova, was sentenced to seven years and six months in prison and is being prosecuted internationally.
Several politicians from the Republic of Moldova participate in the event organized in Saint Petersburg, including the former president of the country, Igor Dodon, the former prime minister Vasile Tarlev, the Russian ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Oleg Ozerov, as well as Victoria Furtună, the leader of the formation “Great Moldova”.
Ilan Sor left the Republic of Moldova in 2019, initially settling in Israel, and since 2024 he is in the Russian Federation. In April 2023, the Court of Appeal convicted him in the “Bank fraud” case, a sentence later upheld by the supreme court. He is also on the sanctions lists of the USA, Great Britain, Canada and the European Union for alleged links with the Kremlin and actions to destabilize the Republic of Moldova.
