Ciprian Ciucu, the PNL candidate who won the Capital City Hall in the elections organized last year, on December 7, and Daniel Băluță, the PSD candidate, who ranked third in the local election, had equal electoral incomes.
The expenses for the local partial elections organized on December 7 were estimated at over 67 million lei, with the most money being allocated to the MAI (45 million lei) and the Permanent Electoral Authority (16.9 million lei). Large sums were also spent by the parties in the electoral campaign, although it was halved in time, being held between November 22 and December 6, in the case of partial local elections.
USR gave the most money for sociological research, while PSD spent the most on online promotion.
The candidate who invested more
The main candidates of the partial elections organized last December, the liberal Ciprian Ciucu and the social democrat Daniel Băluță, each collected 810,000 lei in the campaign. The money for the PNL candidate’s campaign came from loans and own income (133,000 lei), while Daniel Băluță only had his own income.
PNL expenses
PNL spent 80,000 lei in Bucharest for sociological research, over 407,000 lei for printed electoral propaganda materials and over 210,000 lei for the production and dissemination of online electoral propaganda materials, results from summing up the expenses.
Over 146,000 lei was paid by PNL also in Bucharest for expenses related to telephone and internet services, transport and accommodation, food, space and equipment rental, clothing of volunteers and members of the political party, inscribed with the name or the name of the electoral competitor, protocol expenses intended for the organization of electoral meetings, expenses for legal assistance and other types of consultancy, as well as for the payment of services.
PSD expenses
PSD spent 61,600 lei in Bucharest for sociological research, over 256,000 lei for printed electoral propaganda materials and over 303,000 lei for the production and dissemination of online electoral propaganda materials and online promotion, according to the totaled expenses.
121,000 went to expenses for financial trustee services and 30,800 for the creation of TV video materials and 11,495 for clothing, a customized jacket.
USR expenses
810,000 was also collected by the Save Romania Union for the Bucharest campaign of Cătălin Drula. The income came from loans. USR spent 157,000 lei in Bucharest for sociological research, 170,000 lei for brochures, leaflets and other electoral propaganda materials and over 113,000 lei for the production and dissemination of electoral propaganda materials online, according to the totaled expenses.
GOLD expenses
Anca Alexandrescu was supported by the Justice Electoral Alliance for Bucharest in the elections for the Capital City Hall. This alliance was formed by the party Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) and the National Christian Democratic Peasant Party (PNTCD).
He spent 199,000 lei in Bucharest for printed materials and 243,000 for online promotion materials. He also declared 49,000 lei for financial trustee services.
The winner of the Buzău County Council, with lower incomes
Marcel Ciolacu, former prime minister and president of the PSD, won the presidency of the Buzău County Council, returning to local politics. He obtained two loans totaling 800,000 lei for the campaign.
Avramescu Ștefăniță Alin, the AUR counter-candidate of Marcel Ciolacu for the headship of the Buzău County Council, also obtained money from loans, who collected more, 810,000 lei. However, the extra 10,000 lei did not bring him the victory.
The candidate supported by the PNL-USR Electoral Alliance, Moraru Mihai Răzvan, who entered the electoral race from Buzău, obtained 697,000 lei from loans and 80,000 lei from his own income.
