The National History Museum of Romania (MNIR) announces on Tuesday that over 9,000 people admired, between April 22 and May 3, the helmet from Coțofenești and the two gold Dacian bracelets, which were recently brought back to the country. Between April 22 and May 3, more than 9,000 visitors crossed the threshold of the National History Museum of Romania to see the Coțofenești helmet and the two Dacian bracelets, which were recently brought back to the country.

According to MNIR, in the next period, the helmet from Coțofenești will be subjected to detailed scientific analyses, in order to complete the documentation to be submitted to the National Commission of Museums and Collections, writes Mediafax.

Also, “the helmet from Coțofenești will be the subject of non-invasive investigations”, which include macroscopic and microscopic examinations to assess the state of conservation, MNIR also mentions. Also, modern methods will be used such as “X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF) – non-invasive analysis technique for determining elemental composition” and photogrammetry, “through which a faithful 3D model can be built, useful for documentation, presentation and digital archiving”.

MNIR also states that the specialists will carry out detailed measurements and a complete mapping of any previous deformations or interventions, and the results will be compared with those existing before the theft, in order to identify “the possible changes and to establish the best restoration methods and techniques”.

At the same time, those who did not manage to get to the museum to admire the Dacian treasure returned to the country, will be able to see only the two Dacian gold bracelets. They do not require restoration interventions and will be able to be admired in the permanent exhibition Historical Treasure.

On April 21, the helmet from Coţofeneşti and two Dacian bracelets, recovered following the 2025 theft from the Drents museum in the Netherlands, were returned to the country.
