The National Theater in Bucharest will soon release the first photo album dedicated to a show from its repertoire, “The King Dies”, by Eugen Ionesco, directed by Andrei and Andreea Grosu.
Made by Florin Ghioca, the official photographer of the National Theater in Bucharest, the photo album offers a unique perspective on the emotion and exceptional talent of the actors from the show “The King Dies” which is still playing to closed houses at the “Ion Caramitru” Hall.
This is “a small token of gratitude from the author of the photographs for Victor Rebengiuc and Mariana Mihuț”, but also an exhaustive, emotional and intimate look into the “life” of a legendary show, the last one in which the famous couple of actors can be seen on the same stage .

“The king does not die” is the first photo album dedicated to a TNB show, in the cast of which are actors Mariana Mihuț, Victor Rebengiuc, Ana Ciontea, Florentina Țilea, Richard Bovnoczki and Șerban Pavlu.
The 208 pages contain photographs that make up the universe of this show. “The King Dies” has been playing at the National Theater in Bucharest since 2017, and the photos tell the story of this production right from the first rehearsal to the 50th performance, passing through special moments throughout the seven years.
More than 300 original images from behind the scenes, from tours and during rehearsals, from anniversaries and from the pandemic are presented in the album “The King does not die”, which is produced by Vremea Publishing House, with the support of TNB and the “I Love Community” Association.
In the pages of the volume there are many surprises for readers, in the form of QR codes that, once scanned with a mobile phone, present several video materials from behind the scenes of the show. Also, fragments of chronicles written by numerous critics, journalists and cultural bloggers can be found in the contents of the photo album, which was printed in premium conditions.
The collection album, which should not be missing from the library of any theater lover, was made possible with the support of partners Aqua Carpatica, Domeniile Sîmburești and Banca Transilvania.
“The King does not die” is available for pre-order at a special price on the website www.edituravremea.ro and will soon have an official launch at the National Theater in Bucharest.
