“I have good news for the families waiting for the continuation of the in vitro fertilization program. At the budget rectification, we asked and we managed to get 100 million lei, commitment loans, which means we can start the shares to support over 6,600 families to fulfill their dream to have a child, I know that, waiting to become parents. He said Florin Manole, in a video published on Facebook.
The minister said that, starting next year, the program will also be supported by European funds, which will allow the number of beneficiaries to be extended.
The announcement was greeted by the SOS Infertility Association, which carried out the campaign “Austrity passes, the children remain” to convince the authorities to further finance the program.
“We are so happy that the voice of Romanians who want children has been heard! We worked a lot in this advocacy campaign, but the satisfaction is infinite! We welcome the resumption of financing of the IVF program in this 2025 and, at the same time, we express our hope that the plan of attracting European funds will be materialized for the continuation of this Romania,” said Nicole Brunel, the founder of the SOS Infertility and mother organization through IVF.
The advocacy campaign included thousands of messages sent to the Government, meetings with political representatives, public actions and even a rally in front of the Victoria Palace in the Week of Budget Rectification.
According to a study by the sociologist Bogdan Bucur (SNSPA), the investment of the state in IVF is not only social, but also economically profitable. For an in vitro fertilization cycle financed with 15,000 lei, the state recovers its investment more than 26 times, through the taxes and contributions that the child will make to the budget throughout the active life.
