Language and digital skills are tested in the baccalaureate exam, although the results obtained do not affect the final average. However, students can escape the additional stress of these tests and equate them with other tests, but for which they have to pay. The great advantage of the latter is that they are internationally recognized.

What are skills assessment tests?
- The tests for evaluating the linguistic competences of communication in the Romanian language (test A) and for evaluating the linguistic skills in the mother tongue (test B) aim to evaluate the oral communication skills, through a series of grids, which include the reception of the written message and the production of the oral message in various forms: descriptive, informative, narrative, argumentative. The assessment is done on three levels of competence: average user, advanced user or experienced user.
- The test for the assessment of skills in an internationally spoken language is aimed at evaluating the understanding of a text heard and lasts 20 minutes. The level of linguistic competence obtained is written on the back of the baccalaureate diploma. The levels are A1 (0-30.99 points), A2 (31-60.99 points), B1 (61-80.99 points) and B2 (81-100 points).
- The digital skills assessment test aims to check students’ ability to use digital tools effectively. The test lasts 90 minutes and has two stages: one with internet access and one without, in which the students have to solve the requirements on some cards. The evaluation is done on four levels of competence: beginner user, average user, advanced user, experienced user.

How can students equate skills
– The test of language skills in an internationally spoken language can be equated with a series of international certificates:
- Cambridge English: KET (Key English Test) PET (Preliminary English Test) FCE (First Certificate in English) CAE (Certificate in Advanced English) CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English)
- IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
- TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
- DELF/DALF – for the French language DELF (Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française) DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française)
- Goethe-Zertifikat – for the German language
- DELE – for the Spanish language
- CELI or CILS – for the Italian language
You can find the complete list here.
All these degrees have international recognition. To obtain such a certificate, students need to find an accredited testing center and register. Such exams are given only for a fee. Registering for the Cambridge exam, for example, costs between 530 and 1030 lei, depending on the desired level.
– The digital skills test can be equated to a series of certificates obtained following internationally recognized exams, such as:
- ECDL/ICDL (European / International Computer Driving Licence) Internationally recognized certification, attesting to basic and advanced computer skills.
- Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Official Microsoft certification for the use of programs from the Office suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access.
And these certificates involve a number of costs. In the case of ECDL, for example, the general registration series has a single price, set by ECDL ROMANIA: 166.60 lei. In addition, the examination fee is around 100 lei, and the printed certificate costs almost 60 lei.
